Relive the past inside the big court with old-school rules. Only a few blocks from the Oceanfront, the Virginia Beach “Shore Thing” will take you back to when the courts were bigger, and players needed to earn their own points. Come be the first to compete in this annual event.

TOURNAMENT RULES

• The playing court for all divisions and formats is a rectangle measuring 60×30 feet.
• A point is scored with the serving team wins a rally.
• A blocking contact is not counted as a team hit. 
• No open hand tipping.
• Serving fault if the ball touches the net (“let-serve”).
• Receiving a serve with an overhead open-hand set is not allowed. 
• In defensive actions of a hard-driven ball, the ball contact can be extended momentarily even if an overhand finger action is used.
