The Virginia Beach Sports Center is currently looking for housekeeping staff team members.  The housekeeping staff is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the property.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Perform a variety of cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, dusting and polishing
    • Ensure all rooms are cared for and inspected according to standards
    • Protect equipment and make sure there are no inadequacies
    • Notify superiors on any damages, deficits, and disturbances
    • Deal with reasonable complaints/requests with professionalism and patience
    • Check stocking levels of all consumables and replace when appropriate
    • Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety and be aware of any company-related practices
    • Cleaning and sanitizing toilets, showers, countertops, and sinks
    • Washing windows
    • Sorting, washing, loading, and unloading laundry
    • Keeping bathrooms stocked with clean linens, toiletries, and other supplies
    • Cleaning mirrors and other glass surfaces
    • Emptying trash receptacles and disposing of waste
    • Reporting any necessary repairs or replacements

The Virginia Beach Sports Center is currently looking for an Event Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Operations Director/MOD, the Event Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the development, organization, delivery and administration of events targeted toward youth and adult participants. The incumbent assists in hiring, supervision, and development of their team. This includes but is not limited to systems, processes, sales and marketing, planning, execution, evaluation, staffing and budgets. The Event Coordinator harmonizes all programs with other departments to ensure smooth business operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Sports Leagues, Camps, Clinics, Events & Tournaments:

    • Assist in the development, organization, delivery and administration of sports leagues, tournaments, recreation programs, activities, and events.
    • Assist in Planning, organizing, scheduling, and directing all games, facilities, and officials for sports and activities
    • Actively research new sports events and activities targeted toward youth and adults
    • Assist in the recruitment, hiring, on-boarding, training, development, and supervision of team members
    • Ensure a high level of customer service for all program participants
    • Assist with the design and development of marketing material for programs
    • Ensures that event standards are met
    • Able to remain calm and focused in emergency situations
    • Provides data and reports for events as needed
    • Assist in producing and managing the events budget to ensure revenue and event service goals are achieved.
    • Reports directly to the General Manager/Operations Director
    • Manage the financial resources of the tournament department
    • Conduct tournament planning for current and future needs
    • Designs the organization’s tournament policies and procedures
    • Plan, market, sell, set up, execute, break down, clean up, evaluate, all event programs
    • Build customer relationships for continued sales and retention
    • Manage tournament cash flow and forecasting
    • Monitor sales and tournament sales forecasts
    • Work with vendors to ensure best pricing and quality (i.e. Awards, shirts, vendors, etc.)
    • Create schedules that adhere to the needs of various team needs while offering the best competitive environment
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed, required, or assigned by the General Manager and/or the Operations Director

Qualification Profile:

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management, Physical Education, Sport Management, Sport Administration, or other related field
    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience developing, implementing, scheduling, and evaluating varied sports recreation programs
    • Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage sports recreation program activities at multiple sites
    • Knowledge of rules in sports recreation program activities
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Creative thinker with a history of applying innovation in programming
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build community relationships
    • Basic skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
    • Ability to manage programs to a diverse population 

Equipment: 

    • Uses standard office equipment such as personal computer, scanner, copy machine, fax machine, binder, laminator, telephone/headset.    

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:

The Event Staff member provides all guests with direction that assists them in enjoying their experience at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.     • Monitor and limit player boxes to players, coaches, and officials

    • Complete and file required reports
    • Keep Manager on Duty informed of issues and updates
    • Monitor playing fields and courts
    • Monitor facility and enforce Virginia Beach Sport Center rules
    • Provide courteous and friendly guest service to all Virginia Beach Sport Center guests
    • Be knowledgeable of all Virginia Beach Sport Center prices, leagues, and events
    • Fill out incident and accident reports and submit to proper Manager (Manager on Duty/Human Resources)

The Wave Basketball Club at the Virginia Beach Sports Center is looking for instructors and coaches who will be responsible for instructing, assistant training classes and/or practices. The Assistant Basketball Instructor will be in-charge of assisting lead instructors during training sessions or practices. This includes private training, small group training, camps, and clinics. Candidates must be flexible in your hours and your approach to management. Candidates must have a background in basketball and experience in teaching or coaching. The Wave Basketball Club Assistant Basketball Instructor reports directly to the Lead Basketball Instructors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Be a proven leader, who leads by example both on and off the court.
    • Conduct lessons when scheduled
    • Develops and implements comprehensive basketball training programs to ensure client success on and off the court
    • Develop new drills and training plans as needed
    • Conduct age-appropriate drills
    • Utilize ongoing player evaluations to determine starting levels for new clients and progress for current clients.

Facility Cleaning

    • Must know how and be able to setup & take down equipment correctly
    • Responsible for keeping equipment organized and sanitized
    • After a shift of classes, clean the area around the court, and place all equipment in the appropriate storage space.

Customer Service

    • In order to provide the best possible guest service, instructors will take time with new participants & parents and orient them to the program
    • Have detailed knowledge of the facility and programs offerings
    • Responsible with distributing hand-outs and information updates to their participants, parents and potential guests
    • Greet participants and parents at the beginning of each class
    • Acknowledge and speak with all participants and parents at the conclusion of each class

Training

    • As the instructor gains experience, they may be asked to participate in training new employees
    • Attend all training sessions assigned by the Lead Basketball Instructors

REQUIREMENTS

    • High school playing experience preferred
    • Strong Knowledge of the game of basketball
    • Prior coaching and/or instructional experience with youth players
    • Ability to provide meaningful feedback to players and parents.
    • Positive role model and high energy character
